The panel invites submissions scrutinising the evolving meanings and approaches to digital sovereignty in Africa. Additionally, we seek detailed analyses of how digital sovereignty is conceptualised and implemented in local contexts.

Based on ethnography, a scenario-building workshop and anticipatory interviews with tech professionals in Lagos, this paper at EASST 2026 argues that “alternativity” is situated and relational: what counts as an alternative future depends on where imagination is located and which exclusions it seeks to redress.
